Texas operations receive full accreditation
July 6, 2010 After an intensive review, the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services' board of directors unanimously voted to extend full accreditation with distinguished honors and commendation to Acadian's Texas operations. The special honors and commendation were a result of the Austin, San Antonio and Southeast Texas markets receiving a perfect score on the rigorous review. That means no deficiencies or items of recommendation for improvement were found in the six counties inspected - Bexar, Hardin, Jefferson, Orange, Travis and Williamson. The newest counties in the Texas operation - Jasper, Newton and Sabine - were added after the CAAS review. "We are already working toward earning accreditation in our newest counties and hope to accomplish this as soon as next month," said Chris Cirillo, vice president of operations for South-Central Texas. "Earning accreditation with honors is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to our employees' commitment to patient care and customer service. Any company can say they are the best. Accreditation makes you prove it." This was the first time Texas markets were reviewed separately from sites in Louisiana and Mississippi, something that became necessary because of Acadian's growth and expansion. Acadian is one of 134 ambulance services in the world - and one of five in Texas - to be awarded the elite designation. "Every member of our Texas team in every market helped get us to this point," said Mike Burney, vice president of operations in Southeast Texas. "Passing one of the industry's biggest tests with flying colors proves that our team truly is the best of the best." -end-
